Mr David Gordon, Bunion Specialist, carries out all bunion surgery using a minimally invasive keyhole surgery technique. The benefits of keyhole bunion surgery include minimal scarring, faster recovery and return to normal activities compared to traditional open surgery.
During the procedure 3 or 4 small incisions (2 to 5mm) are made allowing access to the bones for reshaping, straightening and pinning without the need to extensively cut other tissues, muscles and skin. Traditional ‘open surgery’ goes through all these layers to reach the bunion and the healing of the subsequent large wound causes stiffness and swelling, a hindrance in terms of pain and recovery.
David Gordon's excellent surgical skills and passion for his field combined with his kind, down-to-earth nature make him a gem of a consultant. I felt in very safe hands throughout my bunion treatment and I would not hesitate to recommend him, his team, and the minimally-invasive technique.
